Lahinch and meeting the Curtins

The Curtins and a Shannon |
After a lovely day exploring the County Clare scenery I returned to Lahinch to meet up with my cousin Marie Curtin ( now Marie Shannon - married to Pat)
She picked me up in the main street of Lahinch

Then Marie took me to the next major town called Ennistymon and showed me The Cascades - the local river and waterfall..

There were some very friendly local donkeys grazing beside the Cascades. Marie grew up on the farm but notice how comfortable I look around animals!

Next we journeyed up to the family farm from which my great great grandfather would've emmigrated all those years ago.. It's mind boggling to think that it is still in the Curtin family, and they have made me so welcome to come and share this place with them.

Once again I'm invited to have my picture taken with some lovely animals.... along with Sean (Marie's brother)

We went outside and tried to capture a few pics of the view of the farmhouse. It is in the most beautiful spot...

Then we all went to Saturday Mass at the Church in Lahinch where I prayed for all the Curtin ancestors, then came home to a delicious Roast Lamb dinner. And the big bonus was Marie offered to help out with my washing...!!! Even my jeans were washed... Yes!!!!

It was just wonderful to connect with family to feel so at home whilst being so far away from home. As soon as I hit County Clare I had a feeling of at homeness and tonight just made me realise that more. As I was at Mass with Nora on one side of me and Marie on the other I just felt a real sense of family, even though I was so far away from Australia.
These few days have been a real blessing as I have stayed once again in the land of my ancestors.
How lucky am I to have had this opportunity!
