From the moment I stepped off the train I knew the Bruges was beautiful. It is such a pretty place
The trees all have that autumn feel about them and the city is surrounded by beautiful canals
I caught a taxi to my hotel, which is lovely.. The Grand Hotel Casselbergh. Sounds like the name of a movie..??
I had arrived and settled by about 3.30pm so I decided to go for a walk around, then take a tour on the canal boat...
Me waiting for canal boat tour |
I took multiple pics along the way, but I don't think they will mean much until revisit them tomorrow and put them in context. There are quite a few places I want to go back and visit, but will wait until I'm raring to go tomorrow. The town has 2 squares, and my hotel is only about 100 meters from the first one..
Again, I'll wait until tomorrow to get some decent pics.
When I arrived here the sun was out and everything was bright and shining, but during my canal tour, the weather deteriorated and was raining after a while.
Bruges is famous for a couple of things...
- Lace
- Chocolate
- Beer
But I managed to find it.... Actually it was raining and I needed to shelter for a while.... so that's my story!
Then tonight, the hotel doesn't serve dinner as they are literally thousands of restaurants in Bruges, so guess what I found - Delaney's Irish pub that served Bangers and Mash...!!! My heart was happy!!!
Doesn't take much to keep me happy!
But lots of good things happened today and I'm really grateful that everything worked out OK.
Can't believe I'm half a world away from all my friends and family... I'm still pinching myself.
Looking forward to tomorrow in Bruges...
Ohh Moira, I've really enjoyed reading your blog. You describe everything so well. Please don't spend all your money on candles. I'm positive God with hear your prayers with or without a candle !!

I guess those candles are an outward sign of all the things I'm praying for.... Secretly I know I don't need to do it, but it makes me feel better!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on getting back to the important things in life! Who needs lace and/or chocolates?? xx
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more... Beer is one of the basic necessities of life !!!
